This is the Home Theater Cookbook site. It is run by me, Andy Rush. I work as a New Media Specialist at a Virginia public university. In that capacity, I am recommending technology to community members all the time. Having a home theater site is a natural extension of what I do for a living.
So what does a “cookbook” for Home Theater look like? I “cooked up” the idea of Home Theater Cookbook by having a desire to create not necessarily the ultimate, but a highly functional, media living room – and then sharing what I learned. Oh, and without spending lots of money. OK, so if you’ve looked around this site at all, you will see it is not strictly a cookbook in that there are only “recipes”. There are also topical articles and resource pages that establish the basis for good ingredients of a home theater system. In short, I am sharing with you the way I do things and I hope it helps.
Some acknowledgements. I have learned a lot from Cnet (I link to them a lot), as well as the HT Guys podcast, and more recently, the Home Theater Geeks podcast. This site doesn’t exist to compete with them, but to complement them. I still think there is some room for some articles and resources for getting your home theater working well with a minimum investment, or for ideas to spark your creativity in your own spaces.
So my last thought on this about page is actually a request. If you like what you see and read, help me out by going to my Amazon store to BUY STUFF. You can also click on the links in the articles to go directly to the product pages. If you have questions or comments, please Contact me.
